i see. i used to know only this song o theirs and just recently got to know the others. but i believe ric and ben have a quite different style of singing.
i think ben sounds more serious,
and ric is always like “uh oh” hehe it’s a little funny.. anyone thinks the same?

Hey thank you so much for posting this video, my sister used to listen to this song when she was a teenager, and I didn´t pay much attention to this band until now, I realised this song is so beautiful and tender, the good thing is that my sister has the cd of greatest hits ot the The Cars and I love it! Amazing band!

She was a beautiful young thing and one day she left me and even though older than her I felt lost, totally empty without her and went to a bar to dry out my pain and this song was being played. My heart just broke thinking who would have her that night……She later came back to me and we were lovers for some time and then one day she left and never returned ever again
    Who´s gonna drive her home…
Who´s gonna drive her home tonight ?
Cried many months with a broken heart…

I was 9 or 10 when this song came out and this song is still my favorite above all songs. So much going on in the music. It also inspired me to play Key Board and Guitar. This is the song I love to warm up too. RIP Ben

Well we see its Ben now, but back in ‘85 when this song was out, video clips of it were scarce and youtube wasnt even a thought. And if you look at the video “you might think” you will see Ric Ocasek singing in the video with the same voice as Ben.

noo can’t you see it’s Ben Orr?

  14. By 1980RockGirl on May 11, 2009 | Reply

Yeah, I know what you mean. I thought Ric Ocasek sung all the songs until I saw youtube videos. lol We didn’t have youtube back then. :)

Coupe D: You’re gonna laugh, but I don’t think Ben was “doing” any special sign … I think he was holding his bass pick with his thumb and index finger, and that left the other 3 fingers when he waved/acknowledged the crowd…sometimes mysterious/unknown things can have a straightforward explanation. What do you think?

this was played in the UK , on LIVE AID, as a musical backdrop to the footage of dying african children, to assist in promoting donations. It broke my heart to listen to it as i saw such painful scenes.
